고급 영어일 수록 추상명사가 주어로 오는 경우가 많다. 위 문장에서는 gastronomical pleasure 대신 The fact that Koreans love their food alone does not explain (...) 으로 시작할 수도 있었을 것이나, 이 경우 글의 수준은 급격히 떨어진다.

If Korea's corporate culture were dragging down Korea's labor productivity, one should expect to see that drag across all sectors.

이것은 좋은 글쓰기라기보다는 내 개인적 스타일이나, 일반적인 내용을 논의할 때 one을 주어로 쓰는 것은 you를 쓰는 것보다 수준 높게 받아들여진다고 생각한다.

Rarefied는 아주 좋아하는 단어이며, 기회가 있을 때마다 쓰려고 하는 단어이다. 자신의 트레이트마크처럼 종종 쓰는 어려운 단어를 지니는 것은 자신만의 스타일을 계발하는데에 도움이 된다.

The best pop artists do not simply influence the artists who come after them; they change the society around them. 

두 문장을 세미콜론으로 연결했다. 적절한 곳에 쓰이는 세미콜론은 글이 늘어지지 않게 해준다.

"just [형용사] enough to"처럼 위트 있는 숙어 또한 머릿속 단어장에 많이 구비하고 있어야 한다.
